‘Secret. …’

Well, we know one word that Hideki Okajima understands in English.

That would be “secret,” the way he responded when asked what new pitches he’d worked on in the offseason, after he admitted that he’d done some experimenting with new techniques and pitches. But, clearly, he wasn’t about to give it up.

He talked today, the only major league player to do so, after a lengthy workout session indoors.

He also added that he’s going to try throwing fewer pitches outside of game situations so he can try to remain healthy throughout the whole season. He was shut down in September last year after he became fatigued, something also experienced by countryman Daisuke Matsuzaka.
