Ellsbury: It’s their decision

Jacoby Ellsbury, asked whether he has demonstrated that he should be the team’s everyday center fielder, said that is for the club to decide, but he has worked hard this off-season to win the job. “It’s their decision,” he said. “I’ll respect it either way.”

Ellsbury was respectful in his comments regarding Coco Crisp, the team’s incumbent CF, saying that Crisp has been nothing but supportive from Ellsbury’s first day in camp a year ago. He said he feels stronger from his weight work this winter, and suspects that will translate into more power, the one component of his game that still raises the most questions.

Ellsbury planned to work out today. Position players aren’t due till tomorrow.
