Angels get to Beckett in fourth

After Josh Beckett one-hit the Angels through the first three innings, ringing up five strikeouts, the visitors from Anaheim roughed up the Sox right-handed starter with three runs on four hits, the biggest of which proved to be Garret Anderson’s two-run single to right that scored Vladimir Guerrero (RBI single to center) from third and Torii Hunter (double to center) from second.

Beckett, who failed to backup catcher Jason Varitek when a throw home by right fielder J.D. Drew squirted past and ran all the way to the backstop, atoned for his fielding miscue when he struck out Howie Kendrick and induced Gary Matthews Jr. to line back to the mound to end the inning.

Headed to the bottom half of the fourth, the Angels lead, 3-0.
