The Sox and Marlins have indeed discussed Manny, and according to one industry source The Fish have “strong” interest in the Sox outfielder. That has never been the issue with Manny; lots of teams have expressed interest in the past; other than Texas, which was ready to trade A-Rod for him, no one has come close to satisfying the Sox desire for value in return. The Marlins have a lot of good young talent and prospects galore, but while the Sox organization is divided on whether to deal Manny, it’s my understanding that no one resists the idea more than John Henry, who still believes Manny gives the team their best chance to win this year.
