It’s 4:01 p.m. …

… do you know if Manny Ramirez is still a member of the Red Sox? Neither do we … but you will as soon as we know.

From the Associated Press:

The deadline for the Red Sox to trade Manny Ramirez has passed, without word of any deal that would move the disgruntled outfielder out of Boston.

A three-team trade that would have sent Ramirez to the Florida Marlins appeared to have fallen apart before the 4 p.m. deadline Thursday. In exchange, Boston reportedly would have received outfielder Jason Bay from Pittsburgh.

The Red Sox did not immediately comment on Ramirez’s future. Teams sometimes announce trades after the deadline has passed.

Ramirez increased his criticism of the Red Sox on Wednesday, saying the team did not deserve him.

But Boston, aware of the slugger’s ability and his role on two championship teams, wanted to get a player or players who could help in the final two months of the season.
