ANAHEIM – Wow.
John Lackey, the ace of the Angels staff, just threw 73 of the worst pitches of his career. The “ace” of the Angels’ staff was pummeled by the Rangers’ offense for 12 hits, 10 earned runs, two homers, two walks over 2-2/3 innings before Mike Scioscia mercifully lifted him.
Lackey is expected to be the Angels’ No. 1 starter in a potential series with the Red Sox. But was tonight a sign of things to come or simply a bad outing?
