Syracuse 4, PAWTUCKET 1: Sean Danielson, Chris Carter, and Gil Velazquez each had two hits in the loss for the PawSox, with leadoff hitter Danielson driving in the lone run. Pawtucket had just eight hits, all singles. Dusty Brown and Angel Chavez accounted for the other two hits. Lefthander Kris Johnson took the loss, allowing five hits and four earned runs in 4.2 innings. He walked three and struck out six. Daniel Bard pitched two innings of relief, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out four. His earned-run average is now 1.42.
PORTLAND 6, Binghamton 2: Josh Reddick led off the bottom of the first inning with his sixth home run and later made a diving catch in right field to prevent two runs from scoring. Aaron Bates and Jorge Jimenez also homered for the Sea Dogs. Bates has eight hits in his last three games. Ryan Khoury went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and a double. Bubba Bell added two hits and drove in two runs. Jared Plummer pitched 5.2 scoreless innings to earn the win, allowing five hits, three walks and recording six strikeouts.
Kinston 7, SALEM 2: Luis Segovia (RBI double), Jason Place (single), and Jered Stanley (single) accounted for Salem’s three hits. Zak Farkes and Matt Sheely each scored a run, while Che-Hsuan Lin drove in a run. Seth Garrison allowed five earned runs in 4.1 innings to take the loss. He allowed four hits and four walks while striking out eight. Josh Papelbon allowed one hit in two innings of relief.
Savannah 11, GREENVILLE 7: Mitch Dening went 3 for 5 with two runs scored and two doubles, raising his batting average to .319. Ryan Dent had a double and scored a run. Anthony Rizzo singled, walked twice, and scored a pair of runs. Yeiper Castillo took the loss, allowing seven hits and seven runs (four earned) in 2.2 innings. He walked two and struck out two.
