Beckett feeling better

Just spoke to Josh Beckett. He’s feeling much better after missing his last start with the flu. He’ll play catch today, throw a side tomorrow and start against the Pirates on Friday.

Meanwhile, here is the lineup for tonight’s game:

Scutaro SS
Lowell 1B
Drew RF
Ortiz DH
Beltre 3B
Cameron CF
Hall 2B
Kalish LF
Brown C
Doubront LHP

UPDATE, 2:26 p.m.: Josh Beckett played catch today and was throwing the ball at a good clip. He took part in the fielding drills but skipped the running.

“I feel a lot better,” he said. “The medication they gave me is starting to work. I’ll pitch Friday, no doubt.”

Beckett does not expect missing a start to inhibit much once the season starts, if at all. “I usually get my innings in because I throw strikes,” he said. “In terms of pitch count I may be behind a little but I can catch up. I’m going to be fine.”
