All’s fair in love, war … and the draft

In the 36th round of the draft today, the Sox took a catcher named Shane Rowland of Tampa Catholic High in Florida.

Shane was recruited to play at Miami and has good defensive skills. According to Baseball America, “he earns praise for his energy, leadership ability and handling of pitchers.”

His father, Donnie Rowland, has a job in baseball as it turns out. He’s the director of international scouting for the Yankees.
