Sox confirm Doubront for Friday start

After Tuesday night’s win over Arizona, Sox manager Terry Francona, GM Theo Epstein, and assistant GM Ben Cherington met in Francona’s office to solidify that their starter Friday vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers would be 22-year-old rookie Felix Doubront.

The Sox brass had tentatively decided before the game that Doubront was going to be their man.

Doubrant, a lefthander, is 6-1 with a 2.11 ERA in eight minor league starts between Double A Portland and Triple A Pawtucket.

He takes the turn of Daisuke Matsuzaka, who was placed on the 15-day DL Saturday after feeling discomfort in his right forearm.
