Let’s play two (no, seriously)

The Red Sox seem optimistic about playing both games today. According to Terry Francona, the rain is supposed to clear out in 90 minutes or so.

The radar map (see above) seems to bear that out.

Meanwhile, Francona indicated that he may not change the lineup too much for Game 2. The Sox were off yesterday, they’re off tomorrow and — let’s face it — they need to win as many games as they can.

Victor Martinez, for instance, may catch both games.

Francona also mentioned two other doctors that the Red Sox are sending Dustin Pedroia’s test results to. It sounds like he has something more wrong than just being sore. He went from being cleared to play to having his results sent to three doctors.

Lee Jenkins of SI.com has a good take on the Johnny Damon situation. He thinks Damon is still bitter about how how his tenure with Boston ended and didn’t want to come back and pretend otherwise.
