The Rays introduced Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez today.

“We’re baaaack,” Ramirez said as he took the stage.

The former Red Sox stars looked to be in excellent shape and were certainly in good spirits according to reports.

“We can go in the shower – and compete there,” Damon said when asked how he and Ramirez were doing physically.

When Damon said the Rays were his “dream team,” Manny laughed and said, “What?”

Damon is 37 now and the Rays are his third team since he left the Red Sox. Ramirez is 38 and is working on his third team since being traded. It will be interesting to see what they have left considering both had rocky 2010 seasons.

They could be just what the Rays need. Or they could be one-dimensional old guys who get in the way. But for the cost, the Rays took a good gamble.

“Absolutely, this team can win the American League East,” Damon said. “What I really like about this team is you have two guys that you’d really like to build any franchise around in David Price and (Evan Longoria). I think those two guys are the best players out there.”
