Jacoby Ellsbury is moving forward

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Jacoby Ellsbury arrived in camp and will work out today. He spoke to reporters for 12 minutes and seemed to be in a good frame of mind after his tumultuous 2010 season.

“I feel good, I feel really good. I’m excited. I worked hard all offseason to get to where I’m at right now and I feel really good,” he said.

Ellsbury said he was fully cleared “quite a while ago” and later estimated it was sometime in November or December.

After playing only 18 games last season because of rib fractures, Ellsbury said several times that he is ready to “move forward” and doesn’t want to get caught up in the past. He welcomed the addition of Carl Crawford and said he was pleased to be back in center field.

As to where he hits, he said that “was up to Tito.”

“I just want to help the team wherever I fall in that order,” he said.

More to come later from Ellsbury.
