Red Sox manager Terry Francona met with the media to discuss several topics, among them the return of Bobby Jenks from the disabled list. Jenks went on the DL May 6 with a right biceps strain and tendinitis. He did two rehab stints in Pawtucket, the last of which came Sunday night vs. the Indianapolis Indians.
“I think we did it the right way and got him a couple of outings to shake the rust off,” Francona said. “The arm felt good and he’ll be back in there tonight and hopefully get him on a little bit of a roll.”
Among other things the manager discussed:
- Shortstop Marco Scutaro has been cleared to resume baseball activities. Scutaro took grounders and participated in batting practice./li>
- The results of the MRI LHP Franklin Morales underwent Monday came back fine. “Everything was structurally sound,” Francona said.
- Daisuke Matsuzaka got a second opinion today from Dr. Lewis Yocum on his way back from Japan. The team was awaiting Yocum’s report. “Think it’ll help us with a timetable, that’s the biggest thing,” Francona said.
