Drew sprains finger; return uncertain

J.D. Drew sprained his right middle finger last night and has been scratched from the Pawtucket lineup tonight.

Drew will be at Fenway Park tomorrow to be examined. It is uncertain whether he will activated tomorrow as scheduled.

“We don’t think it’s anything major,” general manager Theo Epstein said. “We’ll see what happens.”

Epstein said it was “unlikely” the Red Sox would make a deal today, the final day to add any players who would be eligible for the postseason roster. Only players who already have cleared waivers would be remaining at this point.
