MILWAUKEE — As the Red Sox make changes for 2012, their network is changing, too.
Nothing has been announced yet. But Globe colleague Nick Cafardo reported earlier today that play-by-play man Don Orsillo has re-signed with NESN through the end of the 2015 season.
Orsillo, who is one of the best in the business and calls playoff games for TBS, had opportunities elsewhere but decided to stay with NESN.
That is not true of Heidi Watney. She is leaving NESN after four years to join the new Time Warner network that will broadcast Lakers games starting with the 2012-13 season. Watney, a California native, will be a sideline reporter and have other duties with the new network.
NESN made Watney an offer to stay, but she elected to return to California. Dan Shaughnessy was the first to report the news of her leaving.
Watney joins Bruins host Kathryn Tappen and NESN Daily anchor Jade McCarthy in leaving NESN in recent months. Tappen joined the NHL Network while McCarthy returned to Philadelphia for family reasons.
