FORT MYERS, Fla. — Let’s see, by my count the Red Sox will probably start the season with eight players from the 40-man roster on the disabled list:
RHP Chris Carpenter (elbow)
OF Carl Crawford (wrist)
LHP Rich Hill (elbow)
RHP Bobby Jenks (back)
OF Ryan Kalish (shoulder)
RHP John Lackey (elbow)
RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka (elbow)
LHP Andrew Miller (elbow, hamstring)
Eight players on the DL before one game is ever played? That has to be some kind of record.
Granted, only half of these guys are somewhat useful and generally, the Red Sox have had a generally healthy spring. But still, eight?
