Ellsbury, Crawford in action in Fort Myers

SEATTLE — Jacoby Ellsbury is playing baseball today.

The Red Sox center fielder, out since April 13 with a partially dislocated right shoulder, is the DH for the Gulf Coast League Red Sox against the Twins in Fort Myers, Fla.

Carl Crawford is the left fielder.

The game started at noon at the Minnesota complex. Facing 18-year-old Randy Rosario, Ellsbury struck out in the first inning and Crawford grounded to second.

Ellsbury walked in the third inning and Crawford struck out.

Under MLB rules, position players can have up to 20 days on a rehab assignment. Crawford is on track to return on or around July 13. Ellsbury would be back around July 19.

UPDATE, 1:23 p.m.: Ellsbury doubled his third time up and Crawford walked.
