Red Sox have signed eight draft picks

BALTIMORE — The Red Sox haven’t announced any signings of draft picks, but according to Baseball America, eight players have agreed to terms.

As was previously reported, second-round pick Teddy Stankiewicz, a junior college RHP, signed for $1.1 million.

The Sox also signed OF Forrestt Allday (eighth round), RHP Kyle Martin (ninth round), RHP Taylor Grover (11th round), SS Carlos Asauje (11th round), C Jake Romanski (14th round), LHP Gabe Speier (19th round), and 2B Reed Gragnani (21st round).

Speier is an interesting acquisition in that the Sox paid a premium ($200,000) for a player selected fairly low in the draft. Speier was set to attend Cal-Santa Barbara and was considered worthy of a higher selection.
