The Tigers have lost five of their last nine … Dempster is making his second start since being suspended for hitting Alex Rodriguez. He went 6.1 innings and gave up three runs to earn a win over the White Sox Aug. 30. It was his first win since July 27. This will be just his third career appearance and second start against the Tigers, who along with the Yankees are one of the two teams Dempster has never recorded a win against. His only start against them came in 2002 when he was with the Marlins.
