Dustin Pedroia Not in Lineup Against Rays

BOSTON – Dustin Pedroia is not in the Red Sox lineup for Saturday night’s game against the Rays at Fenway Park. He has missed just one other game this season, an April 13 loss at Yankee Stadium.

Pedroia left Friday’s game in the 10th inning after hurting his hand on a throw from catcher A.J. Pierzynski when Wil Myers stole second in the fourth.

He underwent tests on his hand earlier on Saturday. The Sox were still waiting on results from an MRI.
“He went for x-rays this morning which were negative,” said manager John Farrell. “The fact that we’ve held them out of the lineup – at least the starting lineup – we’re taking advantage of the available time and he’s going through an MRI as we speak.
“I think we’ll get a better read after we get the results of the MRI back. Hopefully this is just a day-to-day situation.”
Jonathan Herrera is playing second base, batting ninth. Herrera is batting .171, going 7-for-41 in 25 games this season. He has appeared in six games at second base, four at shortstop, one at first base, and one serving as the designated hitter.
