Red Sox Bring Up Garin Cecchini; Option RHP Alex Wilson

The Red Sox announced they have recalled third baseman Garin Cecchini from Triple A Pawtucket and have optioned right-handed pitcher Alex Wilson.

Cecchini, who will wear No. 70, is getting his first major league stint here. The 23-year-old is leading the Pawtucket Red Sox with 49 hits, batting .278 with a .358 on base percentage.

He had been a fourth round selection by the Red Sox ini 2010.

Wilson pitched the final two innings of the Red Sox’ 7-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday. It was his second outing in three major league stints. He is 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA and two strikeouts.
