Stephen Drew out of Lineup 5th Straight Game

Shortstop Stephen Drew, hampered by an ailing left oblique, was not in the lineup again Friday, the fifth consecutive game he has missed.

On Thursday afternoon manager John Farrell thought Drew would undergo an MRI on Friday, but that changed after Thursday night’s game, when an MRI became contingent upon a medical evaluation of Drew on Friday.

Drew was scheduled to hit in the batting cage under the stands on Friday afternoon and then be evaluated.
Since rejoining the Sox on May 21, Drew has appeared in just four games, batting .071/.188/.071, going 1-for-14 with two walks and five strikeouts.
Jonathan Herrera is playing short, batting ninth against the Indians at Fenway Park Friday night.
