Nunn inked by Bucs

Practice-squad receiver Terrence Nunn agreed to join the Buccaneers’ active roster this afternoon, according to agent John Rickert.

Rickert said Nunn is arriving now in Florida to take his physical and, provided he passes it, will sign the club tomorrow. The agent said the Patriots talked about adding Nunn to their own active roster, but the timing of the rookie’s situation made the opportunity in Tampa too much to pass up.

“They were interested, but couldn’t do it right now,” Rickert said. “That factored into (Nunn’s) decision. If (the Patriots) could’ve done it now, that would’ve made it very, very difficult to choose.”

Rickert said the Bucs liked Nunn coming out of Nebraska, and kept a close eye on him in the preseason. Nunn had eight catches for 133 yards in the preseason in New England, making it to the final cut, before being released, then added to the practice squad. The writing may have been on the wall when, after Brandon Tate was put on injured reserve, it was Isaiah Stanback, and not Nunn, joining the Patriots’ 53-man roster.

“(Nunn) is very grateful for the opportunity,” Rickert said. “He made connections there that I think will last a lifetime. But the opportunity presented itself, and in those cases, sometimes you gotta take it.”
