Want the ultimate indictment on the Patriots pass defense? Here it is: The last time Chad Henne threw as many passes as he did Sunday was in the game shown above — a 37-21 loss to Ohio State during Henne’s freshman year at Michigan. The date? Nov. 20, 2004 (Thanks to Fitz with the Dolphins for finding that out for me).
Henne was 27-of-54 for 328 yards, two touchdowns and two picks that day. The star on the other side was his current teammate Ted Ginn. Yup, that was a long time ago.
And despite all those dropbacks (52 of them), Henne was only knocked down once by the Patriots. Not sacked. Knocked down. Just once.
And here’s another “first since …” — the Patriots have lost three times in a four-game for the first time since enduring a four-game losing streak during the first half of the 2002 season.
