Linebacker Tully Banta-Cain has agreed to a three-year contract with the Patriots, the team said Friday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed in a team press release.
Banta-Cain started 10 games for the Patriots and appeared in 16 last season, when he had 10 sacks and 60 tackles. The 6-2, 250-pound lineman was an unrestricted free agent.
Banta-Cain was drafted by the Patriots in the seventh round of the 2003 draft. He played for the Patriots from 2003 to 2006, then for the 49ers in 2007 and 2008 before returning to New England after being released by San Francisco.
