Bodden’s deal finally done

It’s over. Finally.

Leigh Bodden’s agent Alvin Keels ended about 21 hours of suspense a few moments ago by putting out this Tweet: “Leigh Bodden has officially agreed to terms with the New England Patriots on a 4 year deal thru the 2013 season.”

This was one of the most melodramatic signings I can remember. And I used to cover the Cowboys.

Until last week, Ty Warren was the only Patriot signed through the 2013 season. Now, Vince Wilfork is locked up through 2014, and Bodden’s on board through ’13.

We reported last night that the 28-year-old Bodden, a cornerback who tied for the team lead in interceptions last season with five, was still considering his options, and that the decision would come within 24 hours, which it has. So with today’s developments — Bodden staying and Jarvis Green going — the Patriots have four unsigned UFA’s still on the market: DE/OLB Derrick Burgess, RB Kevin Faulk, P Chris Hanson and TE Benjamin Watson.
