So just WHO are the Pats interested in?

It’s always hard to tell, when it comes to the draft, as it is with any team.

The Patriots have started the process of inviting players to Foxborough for in-house visits, as we learned last night that Jerry Hughes will be here Monday. And they’re still going through the process of interviewing and working kids out on their respective campuses.

What does it all mean? Well, while the number of in-house visits is capped at 30, the on-campus workouts and interviews are unlimited, and the Patriots have had lots of them. LOTS of them.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick estimated the number of players worked out to be up around 215 now. That’s a lot of cone drills.

“The whole draft is a process, so things have happened, some contacts have been made with some players,” Belichick said. “Other players, we’re contacting them. … It’s really a mixture on all players and the process isn’t over yet. What will happen between now and draft day, some of that is still to be determined.”

OK, so how do we boil it all down? Since some of you have asked for a list of players the Patriots worked out, I’m going to provide what I can, which is admittedly an incomplete list.

Also, we’ll leave out the guys who simply interviewed with New England. I can pass along that, of late, Nick Caserio got Rutgers CB Devin McCourty and Oklahoma TE Jermaine Gresham alone for some board work  and interviews on their respective campuses, but I’m going to keep it to who, through various reports and sources and all the rest, has done on-field work with the Patriots recently.
