More on the newest Patriot …

As we noted earlier tonight, the Patriots have a new player on the roster. His name is Quinn Ojinnaka, and he’s going into his fifth NFL season. Want to know more? Here you go …

* Ojinnaka was taken by Atlanta — at that time, under GM Rich McKay and coach Jim Mora — in the fifth round of the 2006 draft.

* In 2007, during Bobby Petrino’s lone year in Atlanta, Ojinnaka was the club’s starting left tackle for seven games. Last year, he started the final five games of the season at right guard, in place of an injured Harvey Dahl.

* Ojinnaka will serve a one-game suspension to start the 2010 season. The suspension stemmed from a domestic dispute after his wife confronted him about contacting a female friend on Facebook. So he’ll first be eligible to play against the Jets on Sept. 19.

* Ojinnaka’s flexibility to play both guard and tackle was likely most attractive to New England. With Logan Mankins staying away, and Nick Kaczur likely out for the year, Dan Connolly is the man at left guard.  Losing Kaczur hurts depth at both tackle and guard, so in a way, that’s really who Ojinnaka’s replacing.
