The Patriots released linebacker Tyrone McKenzie today, parting ways with the second year player.
McKenzie, who was the Patriots third-round pick in 2009, didn’t see many key opportunities in preseason games and was trying to make an impression after missing the 2009 season due to a torn ACL.
In other news, the Patriots claimed offensive tackle Steve Maneri from Houston off of waivers. Maneri is a rookie who played tight end most of his career at Temple.
The Patriots also made yesterday’s trades official, getting safety Jarrad Page from Kansas City and linebacker Tracy White from Philly for undisclosed draft considerations
Maneri is listed as 6-foot-6 and 290 pounds. He was signed by the Texans as a rookie free agent in May. At Temple he started 25 games at tight end and played in 45.
Page, 6-0, 225 pounds, was drafted by Kansas City out of UCLA in 2006. He has 204 total tackles and 10 interceptions in his NFL career.
White, 6-0, 234 pounds, is entering his eighth season. He has made a career on special teams with 94 special teams tackles in his career and he led the Eagles with 18 special teams tackles last season.
