Tom Brady just finished up his weekly interview on sports radio WEEI’s Dennis & Callahan. Here are some highlights (Editor’s note: Embedded video is from Sunday’s postgame press conference):

On offensive line: “I felt as good as I’ve ever felt after an opening game, I’ll tell you that. It was pretty remarkable what the guys up front did. I mean that’s a good team. … The challenging part about that defense is the way they rush the passer. I thought up front we played an incredible game. If we can keep playing like that, it’s going to be pretty tough on opposing defenses. That was a great start by the offensive line. The backs protected great, the tight ends protected great. We ran the ball. It’s a different team this year, I’m telling you. It’s a different team.”

What does he mean by different team?: “There’s a lot of things. There are three different tight ends that add different skill sets. That’s a big position in our offense. Fred Taylor, you saw the way he ran yesterday. He wasn’t out there a whole lot last year. So you add that with a bunch of other new additions, the defense and leadership and our attitude and a whole different take from everybody. I think really it’s been a good attitude this whole year. That’s what we got to continue. That’s how you win games.”

On Randy Moss being around for a while: “We have talked about that. I’ve told him the way I felt. I’m telling you every quarterback in the league would want him on their team. He’s a great player, a dominant player. He made some big plays yesterday. … The pressure can’t always be on him in our offense. On Wes and Randy, then it’s not a very good offense. I was impressed when they were covering those two we were able to get the ball to other guys, and I think that’s what makes a great offense. … He had a great game yesterday and we’re going to need a lot more from him and I’m expecting that, too.”

On the car crash: I”ve been driving through green lights looking both ways now. That’s different. You count your blessings. I was excited I was able to go out there and come home and see my family right after that. I’m just fortunate I’m able to be here with my son, my wife, that’s really a blessing. ”

On first responders to the accident: “They were very professional. The older gentleman in the other car, definitely needed to be attended to, so that’s where they were focusing their time and hopefully he’s OK.”
On Welker: “Wes is awesome. I’ve seen a lot of him over the last seven months. Nothing he has done has surprised me. I guess yesterday I was less surprised because I’ve seen it. He just feels like his normal self — his attitude, his confidence in himself. The same injury that a lot of guys go through that takes a long time, he’s able to put it out of his head and go out there and have a great game.”
Hope to have Wes and Randy together next year?: “I hope so. Believe me, there’s a lot of things that are out of my control, but I hope so. I know what’s best for our offense and having those two guys together is of utmost importance and I think those guys know how important it is to have each other.”
On his contract: “It’s a huge relief just because without a contract you don’t know where you’re going to be in four or five months. You always say, there’s franchise tag but no one knows if there’s a franchise tag next year. And the franchise tag don’t work out so often. … To actually know where I’m going to be is a huge relief more than the financial security. To know my kids can go to school here. My wife and I love it here, so there’s no place where we wanted to go. That’s the best part about it. Having the understanding, that this our home. This is where we want to be.”
