The Patriots will kick off their writer series tonight by welcoming an old friend of Bill Belichick’s into town — ex-Giants defensive end Leonard Marshall. The festivities will take place at the Hall at Patriot Place, and start at 7:30 p.m.
Marshall will be taking questions and discussing Belichick’s gameplan from Super Bowl XXV, which took down an all-time great Buffalo Bills offense to help claim the franchise’s second world title. And he’ll also talk about similarities between that one and the plan Belichick put together to take out another offensive juggernaut, in the 2001 Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.
Marshall co-authored “When The Cheering Stops” with CBSSports.com Patriots writer William Bendetson, a book that takes a look back at the championship run of 1990 and also the struggles that some of those Giants are experiencing today. I mentioned it in my Sunday NFL notes a few weeks back.
So if you’re in the neighborhood, check it out …
