FOXBOROUGH — Patriots cornerback Darius Butler didn’t start against the Bills on Sunday after a sluggish performance the previous week. And what time Butler saw against the Bills ended up landing him back on the bench.
Once Butler realized he wasn’t starting, he said he understood the decision.
“I guess so. I guess my play wasn’t up to par and I wasn’t on the field and that’s obviously where I want to be so I need to do whatever it takes,” Butler said.
The second-year cornerback said he was happy the Patriots left Gillette Stadium with a win and now he is hopeful to get another shot.
“First and foremost it was good because we got a win,” Butler said. “Obviously, every player wants to be on the field every snap, and that wasn’t the case on Sunday but now I’m moving on to this week.”
On what he can do: “It’s a production business. If you don’t produce on game day is when it counts. If it’s not getting done on game day, you’re not going to be out there.”
