Patriots release LB Tyrone McKenzie from practice squad

CLEVELAND — Linebacker Tyrone McKenzie was granted a release from the Patriots practice squad today in order for the second-year player to pursue other opportunities, according to a league source.

McKenzie, who was a third-round pick by the Patriots last year, missed the 2009 season due to a torn ACL. He’s been on the Patriots’ practice squad this season but another AFC East team has shown interest in the linebacker, according to the league source.
