Patriots place DL Mike Wright on injured reserve

Defensive lineman Mike Wright, who has been out since suffering a concussion in November, was placed on injured reserve today with a “head injury”, the Patriots announced.

The move isn’t a surprise as Wright has missed six games since he took a hit against the Indianapolis Colts on Nov. 21 that has kept him out ever since with concussion symptoms. By placing Wright on IR, the Patriots will not have to make a roster move once the roster exemption ends for rookie linebacker Brandon Spikes next week.

For Wright it means the end of his sixth season as he registered 17 tackles and a career-high 5.5 sacks in 10 games.
