PROVIDENCE, R. I. — Safety Patrick Chung can’t think of a crazier stretch of events than seeing an opponent’s shoe wedged in his facemask.
Chung slipped off the helmet but Jets offensive lineman D’Brickashaw Ferguson couldn’t free his shoe from the helmet. He needed a little help from officials to remove his shoe.
Chung has a couple of stitches on the bridge of his nose from the incident and said it was one of the more awkward moments in his career.
“It was the craziest thing,” Chung said. “I didn’t know what happened at first.”
The scene was replayed over and over following the game and a popular topic for Chung who joined a few teammates in Providence today to help volunteers build a playground.
“You get kicked in your face, you become famous,” Chung laughed.
