When the Patriots are down and Tom Brady gets the ball with two minutes left in a game, that usually means trouble for the opposing team.
Completing 8 of 9 passes for 78 yards and the go-ahead touchdown to tight end Aaron Hernandez today on the final drive, Brady notched his 32d career comeback following a fourth quarter deficit as the Patriots beat the Cowboys 20-16.
Brady finished 27 of 41 for 289 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Despite throwing two interceptions earlier in the game, he zoned in on the final drive as the Patriots came back from a 16-13 deficit.
“I’d prefer to be up four touchdowns with two minutes left,” Brady joked. “That wasn’t really the case today.”
Bill Belichick gave Brady the highest praise.
“There’s no quarterback I’d rather have,” Belichick said. “I’ve said it before. There’s no quarterback I’d rather have. I’m not going to get into the ranking [quarterbacks] and all that, but I’m glad he’s our quarterback.”
Belichick and Brady have now combined for 116 wins, tying the most wins for a quarterback/coach combination with Don Shula and Dan Marino. Brady and Belichick have 116 wins and 33 losses in their time together.
