FOXBOROUGH — The Patriots returned to practice Tuesday with a workout in full pads at the upper field behind Gillette Stadium.
According to Globe colleague Shalise Manza Young, tight end Aaron Hernandez (ankle), running back Brandon Bolden (knee), linebacker Tracy White (foot) and defensive end Trevor Scott (hamstring) were not spotted during the media-access portion of practice.
One reason for Hernandez’s absence: He was at his wife’s side for the birth of their daughter, Avielle, according to a tweet posted Tuesday by his brother, D.J. Hernandez. The Patriots tight end, who turned 23 Tuesday, now shares a birthday with his daughter.
The Patriots, however, welcomed the return of safety Steven Gregory (hip) and cornerback Kyle Arrington (head).
