FOXBOROUGH — As expected, tight end Rob Gronkowski and offensive lineman Nick McDonald were the only eligible Patriots who did not take part in Thursday’s practice.
That means left guard Logan Mankins and defensive end Chandler Jones were back on the field, albeit in a limited capacity, according to the team’s report. Mankins has missed three straight games with ankle and calf injuries, while Jones has missed two straight with an ankle injury.
Right guard Dan Connolly, who has dealt with a back injury most of the season and been able to play through it, participated in a limited role.
Gronkowski is recovering from a forearm fracture, while McDonald has a shoulder injury.
The other Patriots who were limited: defensive tackles Ron Brace (elbow) and Kyle Love (knee), safety Patrick Chung (shoulder/hamstring), tight end Aaron Hernandez (ankle), linebackers Dont’a Hightower (hamstring) and Brandon Spikes (knee/ankle), receivers Brandon Lloyd (knee) and Wes Welker (ankle), and right tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back/knee).
Linebacker Jerod Mayo was also listed on the report with an elbow injury, but participated fully.
