With Colts win, Patriots’ chance for first-round bye boosted

FOXBOROUGH — The Colts scored three unanswered touchdowns to beat the Houston Texans Sunday, 28-16, giving the Patriots a chance to take one of the first two seeds in the AFC playoffs.

The Colts’ win drops the Texans to 12-4 this season. With a Patriots win over the Miami Dolphins Sunday, they can clinch one of the first two seeds in the AFC playoffs to get a first-round bye.

The Patriots can end up with the No. 1 seed if the Denver Broncos lose their game against the Kansas City Chiefs and the Patriots beat the Dolphins.
