Patriots players with practice squad eligibility

FOXBOROUGH — With cuts still looming for the Patriots before Saturday’s 53-man roster deadline, there are some tough decisions for the team to make.

Among those, the Patriots will have to determine which, if any, of the current players would fit on the eight-member practice squad after cuts have been completed and players have gone through the waiver wire.

Some players, despite their eligibility, make less sense than others because they would quickly be snatched up by opposing teams. That includes top draft choices and sought-after rookies. But for the purpose of clarity, here are all of the Patriots players who are eligible:

OL Josh Kline
TE Evan Landi
OL Chris McDonald
CB Stephon Morris

CB Logan Ryan
OL Brice Schwab
WR Quentin Sims
OL Matt Stankiewitch
TE Zach Sudfeld

You can be sure that the top draft choices and free agent pickups — Collins, Dobson, Boyce, Ryan, Harmon, Sudfeld, and Thompkins — will not sniff the practice squad. Others like Beauharnais and Buchanan have a greater chance of sneaking through the waiver wire, but there is still significant risk of losing them. The Patriots are not likely to let that happen.

Of the players the Patriots released Monday, WR Kamar Aiken, CB Brandon Jones, CB LeQuan Lewis, and LS Mike Zupancic are all practice squad-eligible.
