New Patriots safety Patrick Chung will make a base salary of $740,000 on a one-year deal, according to multiple reports.
Chung also will make $60,000 on a signing bonus, another $60,000 workout bonus, and a $15,000 per game roster bonus, according to a report by ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
The sixth-year safety was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles on March 11. He had signed a three-year, $10 million deal with the Eagles in the 2013 offseason and was due to make $3.25 million in 2014 before he was let go.
For such a low-paying contract, it reinforces the belief that Chung has been brought in as a backup, more likely to be used for special teams.
