ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — For Broncos cornerback Tony Carter, the hope is that two months is enough time to put one of his biggest mistakes this season behind him.

The image, though, is still crystal clear.

The Patriots rallied to tie their Week 12 matchup with the Broncos at 31-31.

There was just a little more than three minutes left in overtime when Patriots punter Ryan Allen was forced to kick it away.

The punt hung in the air. Wes Welker was waiting on it inside the Denver 5-yard line.

Carter was streaking downfield trying to hold off then-Patriots special teamer Marquice Cole, who had Welker in his crosshairs.

The ball hit him, the Patriots recovered, and they went on to win the game.
