Ex-BC star Green cleared to rejoin Browns

William Green was reinstated yesterday by the NFL, which lifted its indefinite suspension after the Cleveland Browns running back completed a treatment program.

Green, a former Boston College standout, was suspended for four games in November for violating the league's substance-abuse program. The ban was extended while he got help for drug and alcohol abuse at a facility in Boston.

Green's suspension came after he was charged with drunken driving and marijuana possession Oct. 27. He has a March 8 court date.

Titans tab McGinnis

The Titans hired former Cardinals head coach Dave McGinnis as a defensive assistant. McGinnis will be an assistant head coach as well, but is expected to focus on defense and the linebackers. McGinnis was fired by Arizona Dec. 29 after a 4-12 season, and he was 16-32 in three full seasons with the Cardinals.
