PANTHERS 35, CARDINALS 10

There was no stopping Goings

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Nick Goings revived the Carolina Panthers' running game -- for a half, anyway.

Goings ran for 121 yards and three first-half scores and the Panthers jumped to a 28-point halftime lead in a 35-10 win against the Arizona Cardinals yesterday.

Muhsin Muhammad added two TD catches for the Panthers (3-7), who won their first home game of the season. A rash of injuries in the backfield left Goings, who had just 35 carries this season, to carry the load. His first carry went for 24 yards, sparking a 96-yard drive that ended with his 2-yard touchdown. On Carolina's next possession, Goings sprinted down the left sideline for a 57-yard score, and he added a third TD on a 1-yard run.Arizona (4-6) benched quarterback Josh McCown, but Shaun King struggled, finishing 10 for 21 for 112 yards before the break with two interceptions.
