Titans quarterback Vince Young took part in most of yesterday's practice, but will be a game-time decision for tomorrow's playoff game at San Diego.

Coach Jeff Fisher said Young was better but did not go full speed with his sore right quadriceps.

"I did say early he's a quick healer," Fisher said. "He's been that way. He can overcome some difficult things rather quickly, so we're very optimistic at this point."

But the Titans still will test Young tomorrow to make sure he can run around and be close to full speed.

"Then we'll make the decision," Fisher said.

Young is 17-11 as the Titans' starter. He hurt his quadriceps in October and missed a game the next week, but has said this injury isn't as severe.

Giants hurting

The Giants are bracing for tomorrow's playoff game at Tampa Bay with the possibility of missing three starters, all injured in last Saturday's all-out effort to ruin the Patriots' perfect regular season.

Linebacker Kawika Mitchell sprained his knee on the opening series, center Shaun O'Hara went down with a similar injury in the second quarter, and cornerback Sam Madison aggravated an abdominal muscle in the second half of the Giants' 38-35 loss. None have practiced this week.

Willis dominant

One NFL scout called linebacker Patrick Willis "a beast." And that was before Willis won the Associated Press NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

Willis's dominant performance could have been overlooked because the 49ers went 5-11 in a mediocre division. But his league-leading 174 tackles and presence all over the field made him a runaway winner.

Willis earned 48 votes from a nationwide panel of 50 media members who cover the NFL. Only Carolina linebacker Jon Beason, with two, also received votes.

Losman gone?Bills quarterback J.P. Losman wants out of Buffalo, unhappy with how he lost his starting job to rookie Trent Edwards this season.

Losman's agent, Gary Wichard, said his client would prefer to be traded, but added Losman would play out the final year of his contract if necessary.

Wichard has not spoken to the Bills because the team is seeking a new general manager after Marv Levy stepped down earlier this week.

Ravens searching

Browns offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski, 39, who turned Cleveland's offense into one of the NFL's most potent attacks, will interview for the Ravens' coaching vacancy . . . Injury-plagued Panthers linebacker Dan Morgan, whose season ended in Week 3 with a partial tear to his right Achilles' tendon, wants to play next season. "I definitely want to come back and play," he said. "Whether it's here, I'm not sure." The emergence of Beason, who led the team in tackles, and the play of veteran Na'il Diggs, who received a three-year contract extension last week, may signal the end for Morgan in Carolina . . . Florida defensive end Derrick Harvey will skip his senior year to enter the NFL draft. Harvey (6 feet 4 inches, 262 pounds) had 6 1/2 sacks and 34 tackles this season . . . Receiver James Hardy, who at 6-7 came to Indiana to play basketball but finished as a third-team All-American, will skip his senior year to enter the NFL draft. He departs as Indiana's all-time leader in touchdown receptions and yardage . . . Hawaii's all-time leading receiver, Davone Bess, is skipping his senior season to enter the NFL draft . . . Saints offensive tackle Jammal Brown has been fined $25,000 by the NFL for impermissible contact with a game official during last Sunday's loss to the Bears, ESPN.com reported.
