PHILADELPHIA—Philadelphia Eagles cornerback and kick returner Ellis Hobbs is done for the season with a neck injury suffered in Sunday night's loss to Dallas.

Hobbs was placed on injured reserve Wednesday and will require surgery. Eagles coach Andy Reid says the surgery should allow Hobbs to play again.

The Eagles acquired Hobbs in a draft-day trade in April, sending a pair of fifth-rounders to the Patriots in exchange for the five-year veteran.

Hobbs recorded 14 tackles in eight games as a backup. He also averaged 24.1 yards on 20 kickoff returns with a long of 63.

To replace Hobbs the Eagles signed free agent Ramzee Robinson, who was among Detroit's final cuts in September. The cornerback was the final pick of the 2007 draft.
