FLORHAM PARK, N.J.—A Boston Red Sox cap hangs in Calvin Pace's locker, a curious accessory for a guy who dislikes the New England Patriots.
Don't worry Jets fans, he's no traitor. Pace has a reasonable explanation.
He has a large collection of baseball caps, and chooses them based on players he roots for. In this case, the Jets linebacker sports the Red Sox colors because of Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez. Pace also has Mets and Yankees caps, a Dodgers cap, too. "I'm a bandwagon fan," he says with a big laugh.
But when it comes to the Jets-Patriots rivalry, his allegiance is clear. Pace says New England is the "Evil Empire," and every game is like a chess match. Meanwhile, coach Rex Ryan compares the matchup to an Ali-Frazier fight.![]()
