Just hours after losing Wes Welker to the Denver Broncos, the Patriots reached a five-year, $31 million deal with Danny Amendola, according to multiple news reports.

Amendola, 27, had 63 receptions for 666 yards and 3 touchdowns in 11 games last season. In 2011, Amedola played under then-offensive assistant coach Josh McDaniels, now the OC of the Patriots.

Amedola has had an injury-plagued career; last season he missed five games with a broken collarbone. In 2011, he dislocated his elbow in the first game of the season and missed the rest of the year.

When healthy, Amendola is a speedy, athletic slot receiver with the ability to pick up yards after the catch.
