Position: Wide Receiver
Uniform number: 80
How acquired: Signed as free-agent in March
Camp outlook: Arguably the biggest offseason decision the Patriots made was to not bring back wide receiver Wes Welker. Welker, who led the team in receiving for the past five seasons, and was one of Tom Brady’s favorite targets, will be suiting up with the Broncos in 2013. To replace Welker, the Patriots turn to former St. Louis Ram Danny Amendola.
The 27-year-old has been productive when he can stay on the field: he had 85 catches and 689 yards in 2010 and 63 catches and 666 yards in just 11 games last season.
Amendola’s biggest issue, however, has been injuries. He missed the rest of 2011 after dislocating his elbow in the first game of the season, and missed five games in 2012 due a to collarbone injury. He looks to be a starting wide receiver heading into training camp.
